What if my child isn’t feeling comfortable and successful in the chosen dance program?

We always encourage our students to try our classes for a period of time. Each student is unique in their learning style and may require more time to feel at ease with a particular type of dance style. We also want happy students, so teachers will be open and honest in communicating with parents about a suitable level and style of dance for your child, if there are any concerns.

How does Pivot track the students dance progress?

You will receive a list of moves that your child is learning in the various classes. Anything you are comfortable exercising in (no loose scarves, baggy clothing or dangly earrings). Choose footwear that stays on your feet and you can slide safely in. You don’t want too much grip. You may also choose to dance  bare feet! Please designate shoes you will be wearing in the studio and ones you will be wearing on the street (dancers usually bring 2 pairs).

It is perfectly fine if one does not have a dance partner. Pivot is the perfect setting to meet some of the great people in our community.

How does one move up in level?

After completion of two salsa and two bachata classes offered in Intro to Latin, students who feel ready may attend Salsa Level 2 and/or Bachata Level 2 at any time. As each class introduces a new move, students who feel comfortable with the 12 moves we cover, may book an assessment with one of our teachers for Level 3 classes and above. Teachers will dance with you one-one-one in order to determine if you are ready to move on to level 3 and level 4 classes.

How do I choose the right pass/membership?

Intro to level 4 classes are held twice a week. Flash Mob, Spin Techniques, Cuban, and level 4 classes are held once a week. Pick the pass that you can use at the pace that is right for you!
